Our History

P.A.R. Management & Supply Company was founded by Roy Hirst in 1985 in Sheffield, England. With a background working in purchasing for a local company involved in the manufacture and repair of electric motors, transformers and switch gear, Roy had developed a good knowledge of the materials used in such industries and the associated manufacturers.

Initially, Roy provided a procurement and cost saving service for a number of large motor rewind and repair companies around the South Yorkshire area, specialising in winding insulation materials such as Nomex & Nomex laminates. Such was the success, customers began to ask P.A.R. to supply the products directly and so a warehouse and office space was sort in order to provide stocks and a rapid delivery service. The business expanded rapidly over the next few years, and the customer base grew to cover all areas of the UK. An ethos of providing a ‘one-stop shop’ with a rapid delivery service saw the product range grow with the business, and P.A.R. became supply partners with the industries leading material manufacturers; an ethos that continuous today.

In 1989, the company became Limited, and the name changed to P.A.R. Insulations & Wires Limited to reflex the new direction of the business.

1989 also marked the founding of our sister company, Electric Motor Components (E.M.C.). E.M.C.’s product range perfectly complements that of P.A.R., offering replacement parts, electronic and temperature monitoring and control products for electric motors and transformers.

Continued expansion during the 1990’s lead the company to seek larger premises, and in 1996 land was purchased on the Sheepbridge industrial estate in Chesterfield for the construction of new warehouse and office facilities. Larger modern premises allowed stocks to increase and move the company into a range of diverse markets.

Today, P.A.R. and E.M.C. are still family owned and managed. The vision today remains the same as at did in at the beginning; to provide our customers with a complete solution for electrical insulating materials.
